Rise Sunshine and open your eyes
Look down upon me as I sigh
Another day begins with you
My thoughts of life are renewed
Warm my skin till my pores say no more
Embrace my being, let my spirit soar
Follow me Sunshine as I begin my day
Keep me company while I play
For I was young and you were my friend
We climbed mountains as the clouds descend
You kept me safe from dark places beyond
With beams of light on a golden pond
Late afternoons I frolicked with abandon
Among tulips and hibiscus in nature’s garden
My skin softened as the day wore on
Forgetful of the time that’s gone
Deep blues and purples fill the sky
Signal to me that the day’s gone by
Your final exit follows me home
The air now cooler I now feel alone
Must you leave so soon my friend?
I will miss your touch till we meet again
Sleep overcomes me as I bed for the night
Sweet dreams await till the morning light
