Twenty-eight—it’s hard to believe
Seems like yesterday, you stood at my knee
Soccer and basketball filled our weekends together
Rain, sleet, and snow—your kind of weather
I loved those days with you at my side
Dried away your tears after you cried
College arrives and you’re off like a rocket
As hard as I wished, I could not stop it
You wanted your freedom and independence
With all your friends in attendance
Parties, graduations, and weddings ensued
Nothing could ever take me away from you
A young woman now following her dream
Working in Hollywood for the Big Screen
Tenacity, talent, and intelligence imbues
A strong work ethic with lots of “can dos”
You’re wiser now in spite of me
It’s difficult for me to set you free
Enjoy this special day—one of many
I wish you the best, you deserve plenty
Gone are the days of soccer and basketball
I admire from afar in total awe
My little girl is a woman now
The memories linger anyhow
