He sits quietly with two down cards in his hand
Whether to risk his savings or take a stand
Faces stare back without emotion or impulse
A gentleman’s game played without insult
He flips five chips on the green velvet
Five thousand his bet and he can smell it

Ace-king, not bad for Texas Hold-em
Two fold, at least he sold them
Three call and the dealer discards three
The flop appears, coolness is key
He pairs his kings and must stay in
This is not your grandmother’s gin

Another folds leaving three in the game
The man with the sunglasses raises his claim
Another ten chips neatly stacked in a pile
It’s back to me, I try not to smile
The turn card appears, an ace to behold
Leaving two of us after another one folds

Ten more chips leave my side
The sunglass kid pushes twenty beside
I call and wait for the river card
A four appears, I'm now on guard
I push all my chips to the table’s center
Sunglasses calls me quick to enter

A bead of sweat touches my eye
I blink twice with barely a sigh
My hole cards now visible to all
Sunglasses grins because I called
Kings and aces look strong to score
But not to Sunglasses who’s holding three fours

A card game and the game of love are two affairs that will forever baffle humanity. All this now needs is a melody and a Alan Jackson video on the Country Music Network.

. . . and I'm a jazz and classical music enthusiast. Thanks for grasping my attention Keith.

My mother was very funny playing cards because when she had a good hand she started giggling and hehe but my brother had a real poker face. Card games between friends never ends it goes on the next round.

I believe this is poker you are playing. I can play but don't normally play well, for I'm too honest and people can see through me.

This one is well-written and with good rhythm.
