Harmony calls me home
To places familiar to those alone
Sweet music to my ears
Washed away redemptive tears
Sing your song, my sweet lady
Under the oak strong and shady
My heart forever broken
Before words exchanged or spoken
Forgiveness elusive to one so lame
For my transgression I take the blame
But let me hear that voice once again
Before I say my final amen
For once we believed in love
Created by His grace above
Unspoken words defined our union
As we knelt and took communion
Peter, Paul, and Mary spun on a single turntable
Before our love became a fable
Hearts broken by misery and hurt
Love’s spark now rendered inert
Numbness surrounds two once yoked
Dreams disintegrate up in smoke
For love flowed through my veins
Leave only clots from the shackles and chains
