A random poem pulled out of a tentative book of poems, Snapshots from a Life Lived

Our World

Some people take no shit.

They strut through the world
not wishing any rancor
not wanting any pain
not seeking any trouble

but they find it

and it finds them.

These people will not accept
being beaten down
by people who are not only no better than them
but very likely far worse.

They spit and snarl
like cheetahs ensnared in chains.

These people are not happy
and they never will be;
life is not about happiness to these people,
how could it be, in the world they move through?

They are hated by many and loved by few
they spend more hours alone
than a bear in hibernation

but there’s a quiet victory in them
and a glowing joy that goes beyond happiness;
you can see it in the sparkle in their eyes

and death to them is not a defeat.

Then there’s the rest of us:

and that’s the world we live in.

And so that is what makes the world go around. Makes it a rather interesting place to be too....

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
