Sometimes
for Jesse
Sometimes out of the blue
Something triggers it
And a cold, gut wrenching anxiousness
Blankets me
I am wracked with fear,
shuddering breaths escape
my heart palpitates like it will burst
through the wall of my chest
my eyes are huge
in my white face
what is it, what is it ?
and then I know, I know
It might be seven years
But it’s as if it just happened
you’re gone
and there is nothing I can do about it
I must ride it out, I must breathe
It will pass, this hollowness
Everything passes, doesn’t it.
