The body knows.
The mind angles high to fool it,
Flying smart out the window.
Body just slams it shut,
Locks, takes care of the door.

The body knows.
Muscle steels, skin lassos.
Heart refuses to beat
In rhythm.  Gears to Race,
Slows, sprints, slows.  Can't see,
Like the belts that squeeze
The throat and the genitals.
Ribs feel pummeled.  Belly.
Chills crawl up, down, up
The C' ing spine.  Oh yes,

The body knows.

Mind still churns out bulletins.
Primo bull.  Talking head
Keeps spewing bearded  lines.
Forget prime time, this show.
Channel on hold.   Still
The mind works for applause.
Target:  audience of one.

The insulated shroud the mind
has strapped on is hot as the air
Plumping in place of down.
Have to try to pound in
That it is okay to grieve.
Shout, scream, bemoan

The body knows.

the body knows and the mind controls, flying a body without its control is dangerous, especially for us guys, watchout girls he's following his on, his mind is gone, hehehe

My body says I'm an old foggie but my mind says don't pay any attention to it. So I don't. Thanks for your nice review.

A delight as always to read you..I love the way you carefully chose your words..wonderful words..I think from time to time my body has done all of these things even though I keep trying to tell it I am young! At least in mind and heart as are you Pea!

We are what our bodies tell us; but our minds often play the magic of how we feel otherwise.

I enjoyed this piece you write, Pea!

Happy New Year to you!

Words and phrases tantalize and tease the senses in this fine write and I think it is one of your finest Phyllis.

Yessss....the body knows--->some of us wear it well, hanker for it to find us....hard to shut the heartbeat of desire out--->the risk the body sustains in event the EVENT becomes payable! Prototype mind covered by a lavender garment from sooooo long ago, a winding sheet of the past screaming to revive long-thought-dead issues but NOT! A mind wrinkle ironed--->a pucker-up-give-me-one-HERE--->a wet pleat THERE! Yes--->the body knows--->tells you it is easier to open a window than it is to close a door in these golden years. The clock ticks that Dr. Pepper clock--->10--->2--->4. Memories on the move, heartbeats rage, then drop off irregular. Scream and shout, get it out, Pea!

Oh Pea, it's all in your first stanza and I hear you loud and clear. In fact, all too well. Some will call it positive thinking; I think the operative word is denial. No matter what you write about, I love what you say and how you say it. Oh you... wise woman!
