During the recent hurricane and the threat of Hanna the new hurricane, this poem came to me.

THE ANGRY SEA

The eye of the storm is lurking at sea
Is it Gustav or Hanna waiting to be?

The angry waves ravage the coast
The people must leave
Without any hope.

The stronger the storm
The darker the night.
When all hope seems dim
Its time to take flight.

When all hope seems lost
When our dreams seem to falter
Lest we forget to
Turn to the alter.

Our Lord and our God
To you do we plead,
We love you our Father
It’s you that we need.

Don’t let us forget
 to thank you dear Lord
You don’t send the storm
It’s of one accord.

We pray the sun will rise again,
The storm will pass
We’ll see our friend.
The ocean will calm
The sky will be blue
We love you dear Lord
We’ll always be true .

He is always there...through storms...and good weather...just as He is in our lives.

Hello Kathryn,

Great poem! You did not address the storm - you directed your poem to the One God Who calms the storm! Man learns to call and lift his head to God only when he has fallen down on his knees in FEAR.

I am hoping and praying that Gustav or Hanna don't hit too hard, as are many I'm sure-thanks for reminding us.

A great write about that angry sea. It's so true and when we find God we don't lose him. He does not lose his strength as the hurricanes do. I am glad you could write all about it like this and profess to us your thoughts. Good ones always needed.

Your poem magnifies the fury of these treacherous Atlantic storms.
Excellenty written.
