We call her Hut. She and my husband graduated from high school together. I wrote this poem after spending a week-end with "high-school" classmates at her house.
HUT We sat at the kitchen table *Drinking coffee until noon* *As we shared all our stories* *I stared across the room.* *We are here to rest* *And love each other too* *No wonder all your friends* *Love to gather around you.* *You lift us up and help us* *In a way only you can do* *You open up your heart* *And your home is ours too.* *As friends we share a bond* *That only friends can do* *A lifetime of memories* *We know who’ll see us through.* *When times get rough* *As they always seem to do* *We gather at your house* *We know you love us too.* *We can’t wait to be* *Together once again* *You are my friend forever, Hut* *For a lifetime, to the end.* *Written for “Hut”* *By Kathryn Neff Perry* *July 18, 2010* *Copyright 2010 All Rights Reserved.*
