From where I stand, the sky curves
though I cannot see it casting shadows
Horizontal such as the distant field
where blood spills in mythic battles

It seems to me the constellations poise
in the blue-black sea of night
Keeping distance parallel to months
constantly moving after taking flight

Some were named after ancient Gods
and some animals that are found on earth
while some planets brightly come and go
and are said to rule over us from birth

I am one who may defy those gods
for my beliefs are reserved for one
The same who created all of heaven and earth
and all else underneath the sun

Yet, I remain in awe of such majesty
as I am fascinated by their light
Though I am limited by the bleach of day
and then cleansed again another night

The battles raged are between warriors
stretched beyond time in distant space
and Goddesses in the midst of galaxies
who disappear at dawn without a trace

From where I stand, the sky curves
a wheel of influence upon our lives
each time I look into the blue-black night
to spy the heavens until dawn arrives
