I wrote and copyrighted this song for my mother in 1988. Mother, I'm still singing your songs!

Verse:
When I was just a little girl,
I used to sing my Momma songs.
They told of mansions in the sky,
gates of pearls, oh me oh my.
It felt so warm inside me to know
those things so great,
I could not understand till now
but Momma spoke of fate.

Chorus:
She'd say, "Rock of Ages, little
girl sing to me.
That mansion o'er the hilltop is
where I long to be.
Until I'm called up yonder, just sing
those sweet refrains
and let me hear the softest sounds
a voice could ever make."

Verse:
As I grew up and put away my dolls
and old rope swing,
I saw the lines on Momma's face
grow deep with love serene.
The years of time had etched my mind
of Momma and my song and to this day
I hear her voice, with me she'd hum along.

Verse:
Now I'm way past forty three and here upon my knee,
Sit's a carbon copy of my Mom and she sings to me.
All the little childhood songs handed down from memory
the sweetest tunes this side of earth, My Momma taught to me.

She'd say, "Rock of Ages little girl sing to me.......
