The Final Shot
This game; the pressure, the future, it’s all in my head
I look up and there’s 10 seconds left
The fans, my fans, people who have always been there for me are all here
Then I look up and there’s 9 seconds left
Dribbling the ball, our team loosing
With the team depending on me, on this final shot
Once again I look up and there’s 8 seconds left
Passing half court noticing the ball is 42 feet away from the rim
Then again I look up and there’s 7 seconds left
Sweat dripping down my face, heart stomping, down by 2 there’s only one thing to do
Then the crowd starts yelling
Saying the final seconds which is down to only 6
Either win to succeed or tie to go to overtime, feelings telling me to win it now
Now a shout of 5 is coming from my teammate on the side of me
With my choice on my mind and the three point line right in front of me I start my set
Now crowds from all over the gym – screaming out 4
To more sure I get my clear shot I start to pump and 2 people on the court tell me its time to shoot
Then looking at the time clock
Telling me there’s 3 seconds left
Silence, stares, fingers crossed, all you can see in this exact moment
With the seconds only down to 2
Bouncing from the rim, everyone out of there benches, bodies on the floor, a second away from a win
Now as time feels forever with one second left I noticed something
With my eyes closed not knowing what happened I start feeling hands on me
With the time down to zero and a game won by 1, crowd cheering, tears dropping,
Buzzer beating, all I know is that I made the final shot
