Sunset Kisses

I've known so many couples that have been together a lifetime...and still adore each other! Is there anything more beautiful than eternally binding love?

Poem Artwork

Two shadows played across the sand
On the deserted beach
Still warm from the sinking crimson sun!
The two lovers strolled along
Completely enamoured
After a lifetime together!
Her tiny fingers disappeared
Inside his big calloused hand, as
In ear-splitting tones
Their voices shattered
The stillness of the salty air…
Hearing aids on the fritz!
In a gentle voice he yelled at her.
All but screaming, she yelled back at him!
Sharing heart warming memories of life
Richly carved out of enduring love,
They spoke of children, grandchildren
And the blessings they’d enjoyed together.
In the shadows, near a gnarled old tree
Dry and brittle, yet somehow, like them, defiant
Against the ravages of time
They paused to share a warm embrace.
And their sunset kiss was one of mutual adoration,
Everlasting friendship, and souls
Destined to be together forever!

I read strong words of wisdom in this poem. These kind of poems are needed in these tough times where so many couples are torn apart over disagreements. Keep on writing poems like these for you never know the life you will touch. Yours in the love of Christ,

My grandparents were married Over 50 years and so in love...my grandfather passed first and my grandmother didn't want anyone else. She was so sad after he passed. It is a beautiful thing and you wrote about eternal love so well. Take care, Chessly

Ah, "Sunset Kisses" is a sweet yet realistic look at couples who withstand the ravages of time, still hold hands and stop to share a warm embrace. Beautiful sentiments; an excellent read that touches the heart with warmth, Annabel.

This is so beautiful, so full of grace!!!

My parents were married 67 years and mama just died. It's devastating to the other partner to be left behind. The nurses ahve told me that some older couples just can't be separated and that when one dies, the other would rather go along with them than stay here on earth.
Blessings,
Christine

A true rarity and beautiful to behold. My folks were happily married 55 years when my dad died in 2005. She's been living in an assisted living facility for the past 15 months and has a new special "friend." His name is Jerry (No not Jerry Bolton) and it pleases me greatly to see her happy with some companionship. You can teach an old dog new tricks I think. Patrick

The only thing missing was their names, carved in a heart, then gnarled old tree. I hear you–I think–have to turn this dang fangled thing up! ;-)

Finally made it over here to read your poem. I've had a rough day.

Yeah, we hear about the broken homes, divorces, etc., but there are many who go the distance and that must be a wonderful feeling.

"A sunset kiss." How beautifully stated, Anna. It's amazing when two people can share a complete lifetime together and still feel love. It may not be the love of their youth, but a love a thousand times stronger when bound by the years.
Your friend; Mark
