Lost in merciless darkness

not a trace of light to be found

She tried and tried to find her way

but the darkness got her down

Her precious little canine friend

had moved on to the other side

Her heart was shattered beyond belief

and day after day she cried

She carried her soul in her empty eyes

and her smile was far from real

Although she tried to hide the pain

her agony was real

Then one day right out of the blue

a bright light came her way

A little waif in need of love

and a heart in which to stay

The tiny dog weighed just five pounds

and every ounce was light

He lifted her out of her dark abyss

his spirit was so bright

Little Ziggy brought sunny skies

and rainbows into her heart

He gave his all and she gave it back

and it was true love from the start
