Inspired by works of photographer Sabastio Salgado
Open eyes, open mouth
Bait stuck deep in my throat
Wiggle this way, waggle that way
The more I wiggle the harder and tighter the grips
I try to scream, I try to yell
Please don’t do this, please, please I beg
But no one comes no one responds
The harder I struggle the tighter it holds
I feel a pull and water recedes
This is hard as my breath softens
I can feel life flowing from me
Like the ocean I once called home
Its over there is no more struggle
I feel the last tug as my body lets go
It is over, it is done
The water is gone and I cannot live on land
I get one last look in the eyes of that which pull
But nothing to see
I let go and let it be
With Love,
Cindy
