My baby is 20 Happy Birthday Alexandra!

Poem Artwork

For Alexandra.

She is the glitter on my life,
I hold onto hers softly, trying to be light.

She was the blessing I didn't expect

the amazing gift I could never reject

together ,from birth,just us two

she was my angel and salvation

and.... that's true .

My destiny to be her mother

an honour I would soon discover.

Now she is tall and  grown

and beautiful ,let that be known.

Even though I no longer belong
as I did in the days when she was young

she still carries me with her
to the palaces and thrones

and shares with me her reverie

and comforts these old bones.

I silently listen
and learn
for ...it is her turn.

 She...my daughter,
who fuels my dreams
and conquers my sorrows
and smiles my face
and glints my eye
and lightens my heavy
and flies my spirit with her 'hello.'

Sanctuary came to me
when I became mother of she.

She is the road I follow
the laughter in my sorrow
and with her always…I am there
near or apart or anywhere

My daughter carries my HEART like treasure
(and that's it's only worth to measure)
The weight of it is light upon her
and no burden of it does she speak
for bonded to it is her own
and there beside hers
mine... is home.
This I do know
loyally I follow
for she loves me dearly,
sweetly,
humbly
kindly...

she forgets me not,
even though
I was... and am…
so well worth forgetting.

All darkness brightens by her shine
Alexandra,I'm so proud you're mine.

Beautiful poem Kay, I really enjoyed it, there is however one part in it that I know for sure is a mistake and that part is....

she forgets me not,
even though
I was... and am…
so well worth forgetting.

You are far too warm and kind a person to forget.
Your Pommie Pal Steve.

Alexandra may now be 20 and fully-fledged, but, after reading this, she's also a worthy testament to the beauty and shaping nurture of her mother as well as to her own intrinsic light. From this we can see that you are both indeed paragons among women. A joy to share and behold, thank you, Kay! xx

How beautiful! The mother-daughter bond can be so deep and wonderful.
When I think about the love of my children and grandchildren, it amazes me. I find it hard to understand what makes THEM love ME so much. Some of your lines close to the end echo that feeling.
But God has "invented" this marvelous bond, and like you, I can only revel in it!
