Aussie fires at Christmas.

Choking hell as smoke fell
from Lucifers left hand,
(we can’t understand what evil brain
dares rain this flame
upon our Yule tide bell).
Ah well...
Hell will not suffocate,
(or our fate incinerate)
this will of ours,
(it flowers beneath the ash).

Flashing orange cinders fly t’ward our face,
dry-lightening bearing trace, without grace on birthday of Christ.
Not once, not twice, or even thrice,
but more and more than that,
fires spat its evil furnace on our heads,
(as our children slept in beds,
just waiting for Saint Nick).

So quick,it scorched, and torched ,
(fires callousness is quick.).
over a hundred homes are lost.

Evacuations still are tossed
t'ward the local folk,
( engrossed by festive kick.)
Flagrant flames, thick white smoke,
Christmas time...(what a joke)!

We are in my tiny home,
encircled by a smokey dome,
ash is raining on our air,
my eyes are stinging from their flare.
Our pet ( banished Christmas day ,)
is back inside where smoke can’t prey.

Pollutions’ scale has lost its eye…
our bush creatures doomed to die.
Devils hand did all of this,
evil chokes our Christmas bliss.
Sirens ringing in our ears,
'Merry Christmas'disappears into the smog of hell...
Ah well,
another year begins with sins.
Cinders tumble, and we fumble to hold power,
they won’t beat us, or defeat us with their heat,
for we fight tonight ,as every hour.
Scorch us not with hot you devil man,
we can catch you ,yes we can,
Lucifer ...you lose again.
Ruin Christmas? pretty close,
but ruin us? you can’t boast.
We will beat you...douse your flames,
we will snuff you... wet your games.
Go to hell you bug of fire,
you won’t make our Yule time dire,
we’ll grow stronger by your fire,
we will rise up high and higher.
We’re the phoenix ,
you’re the ash,
we’re the winners,
you’re the trash,
we will build it all again,
we will be much better then.
Smoke’s around me,I don’t mind,
yes it’s burnt our outer rind,
does not beat us...cannot,won't,
quit a fight? our firemen don't.
Merry Christmas,
happy cheer,
Devil's lost...(disappear.)
Happy new year !(smoke and all)
we are standing,
we ...won't...FALL.

Absolutely perfect, and it epitomizes that famous Aussie spirit,
very, very well written Kay.
Thank God you came through it safe.

Glad to hear you are still there and haven't burned away with all the brush. The fires have to burn out eventually, with nothing more to burn, then to rebuilding your lives your minds can turn...-e-

Quite a defiant rant against nature's wrath! Some will say that it is a sign that Jesus is returning with the predicted fire. But I say that those of us in northern climes that felt the need for fossil fuel heat, power and light, have caused higher temperatures worldwide causing greater droughts. My partner tells me that one disgruntled Vietnamese immigrant set many fires. Who would want to do such destruction except someone very deranged?

You have a right to fight. But in the end, we will all lose fighting fires. A few years ago in 2011, 2% of Texas burned one summer, a land area the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. That should not be forgotten, because drought persists here, along with horrendous rain in Harvey, 2017. It is timely direct our energy toward sustainable green power and light. Leaving fossil fuels in the ground for future use once the atmosphere cools back down hundreds of years from now.
