Poem Artwork

When I was a young child, it was Pretty is, as Pretty does
As the gangly legs and baby skin turned to softer body, young but thin
It became clear that in this world beauty had to be out, not just within
When I grew up, fell in love, took a mate, babies born, life was full..and I gained weight
You're face is too pretty to be so fat. Why can't you do something about that?
Grown and old, kids gone, life mate passed, what is left, should I stay strong, go on?
Passion at my age? Of course and more.  Career, children, grandchildren, and friends
Always busy, sharing, caring, living through each of life's new journeys
I look in the mirror...really see..Our life is nothing if you don't love you
Through it all, I learned that love and life are beautiful, and only I can make it so
When I was a young child, when I was a young woman, When I am an older woman....
I've always been Pretty is and Pretty does, both within and many times "without"!

Oh my dear, dear friend, you could never be more beautiful than you are right now, inside, upside, outside and downside. YOU are the beautiful. Love and hugs, Bonnie

When we are alone and standing in front of a mirror, we hope that the face looking back is our best friend and we can trust that person to do what is right. Although me may have many great and good friends, who else can we depend on to always be there and make the right choices that leads to sunny days?

My daugher loved the drive through Tenn mountains when we drove to Ga. 2 years ago. She was so awed by the dropoffs and the mountains, took lots of photos. WE have to go on without our mates. You lost yours shortly before mine. My story is similar to yours, though I was not pretty, but loved by Tom very much. He was my second hubby and so good to me, I can never forget him. His spirit is with me still and always will be with me. Age is timeless that is true, and I feel I will never be called by God home to be with him, but waiting is hard and I suppose the time will come when it is my time.
Thanks for sharing this poem and I got a lot out of it and could relate very well to it.

This is so apropos for we of the "tender" age. It may also be a lesson for any age.

I read so much in your words Linda, But true beauty is felt in the heart not seen by the eyes. I have always lacked in self confidence when it came to my looks, size and intelligence but still thought I was beautiful inside and no one can change that. thank you for sharing.

Newfie hugs, Rose
