Grief is an ongoing path; dips and valleys with pain and laughter..yet, life goes on...AFTER....

Where were you? by: Linda Law
Where were you when I needed you most?
I look around and all that's left is a ghost
Memories and love all wrapped in my mind
Swirling and twirling, like a ball of twine
Each night I pray and call out your name Pretending your gone is only a game
Life was good when you were here
The core of our life, the path was so clear
Where were you when I needed you most?
Remember when you and I drove to the coast?
Stopping and laughing, walking on the sand
Marveling at the wonders as you held my hand
I was weak, sick, hurt; you were always very strong
Valued each minute, believing I'd be the one gone
Life played a trick, too soon you were taken
The joke was on me, alone I couldn't stop shaking
Each step I take is to pick up the pieces
One by one, the dreams I toss and release
Where were you when I needed you most?
Show me your face, smile , touch, but not like a ghost
Thanks for the reviews Linda. I very much appreciate you taking the time to read my work.
Where Were You is a very lovely poem. Caring, soulful, and painful.
Whether you call the face a ghost or Spirit- It is always there and more caring and protective than when in a human form. This bond will never end. Just enjoy feeling the closeness no matter what form. Some people never feel it. Know that you are a blessed one.
Love and Blessings,
Judith
Could it be...in their absence, they're really not gone? Could it be, in the struggles we bear, they are lightened with their memory, as if...they never left our soul?
Your pen inspires me. . .
Excellent!
