The Breadbox
By: Linda Law
A few years ago, while wandering through a garage sale
There sat a beat up ole brown box, for bread it was regaled
Alas, the two dollar price came down to one
How could I pass up this bargain…. the deal was done.
Someone had hodgepodged a cluster of fruit at the top of the bin
Over time it has been sprayed gold, black, then green again…
No matter how hard I scrubbed, tugged and scraped, it would not budge
Ten coats later, it’s headed for the dump..Wait, there’s a color called fudge
Cooking and cleaning, rearranging and packing, “Throw that ugly breadbox away”
Writing and chatting, planning the move, a whole new décor is coming my way
Fiestas, Siestas, in ole’ Mexico…the reminders of a vacation not long ago
Where bright colors were splashed on the new and the old, turning trash into gold
Somewhere in a cabinet are craft supplies, paints, and stuff to keep me busy
That’s it, I’ll paint it like Mexico in colors of blue, red, green, purple, real dizzy
It took many coats to cover the old, and soon the box looks like a Fiesta bowl
It’s wild and it’s bright, it’s crazy with life…I bet the bread won’t ever get mold!

Very colorful and articulately written. Now here's another review for your 700 billion(just kidding) target. Wish it were cash.

Sometimes you find treasure amongst the garbage. Good thing you didn't throw out. Love the poem.
