Christmas is a State of Mind
by: Linda Law
A child who comes from plenty
has a list that will take many
to fill and please, but Santa has the means
What about the child who comes from little
Who dreams of food and warmth, and love
The list is simple, and only He above
can fill the needs, in these times of trouble
The parent who faces each day with a struggle
Knowing they can't provide even the minimum
When all they have is the hope and love within
Those loving thoughts cannot fill the tummy
that needs a home where life is sunny
The man who lost his job and sees despair
No matter where he looks, sadness fills the air
How can we change the way we feel
When life seems to have given nothing real
This is the time for happiness, love and peace
Where we must hope and give without cease
Within our hearts there lies an abundance
of treasures, inspiration, knowledge and chance
To pass along the gift of hope, to all we know
and even those we don't...Let our hearts glow
The gifts are many...stored inside our mind
to give and send along the way, it's our time
Christmas is for birth, so let's give new life
by spreading joy in generous gulps one by one
The cost is little, almost nothing...deep inside
Wrap the love, pass it along, share it, whisper
it, with your laugh, your smile, your heart....
Christmas is just a State of Mind....
So well-said . . . and so finely penned - thanks for sharing your insight!!
Season's Best,

Children are not aware Of the values they know nothing about
the poor are please, with what comes their way
The rich have tantrums if an item from their list is missed.
Love & Peace be with you

and then "Wrap the love, pass it along, share it, whisper it,
with your laugh, your smile, your heart....Christmas is just a State of Mind...." Great lines!

I do agree with you the list from a well-to-do child has many things in it; but I'm sure that Santa will have just the one the child needs most.
However, there are also the forgotten old folks who are lonely too in the nursing homes, so they shouldn't be forgotten either. A little basket of cute little handmade things will make them smile from ears to ears. The handmade things are worth a lot more in value than the ones in monetary value.
Wonderful poem, Linda!!!

Wisdom shines throughout your captivating poem.....I agree with all you say, after all Christmases are just one day!
Happiness always in your life, Stuart
((((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
Pass it along
Do something nice
And sadness will be gone.
