Spring coming.

Thinning, soot-coated remnants of winter still clinging to naked tree limbs even as barely seen buds push through layers of dark winter bark.

Melting snow causing driblets of muddy water to flow over curbs into what becomes thousands of miles of gutters that then combine and surge to become gushing streams that pour from all directions of the compass into fast-flowing currents.

Green, pink and lavender buds of wild growing flowers and bushes popping their immeasurable pods with minute tips showing as barely seen dots upon a background of recently green foliage.

Warmth replacing cold.

Sunshine breaking through black, moisture laden clouds.

Cold breath of winter’s vapor replaced with the warmed air of coming Spring.

Ooooh, this poem is warmth on a very cold winter day! Snow came back to remind us that winter still holds sway...
