today the bike path by Paradise Pond
and the kiosk where mary planned
a woman
's group
while I made cell calls because it was easier than commiting
tonight e-mails some kind some selfish
I biked hard because my son is...
I can’t know
I don’t have his type of brain
He gave me the opportunity to push against
Children take us beyond controlling
only ourselves can we help them with
waiting for them to grow
Tonight the cold it’s supposed to frost
David is excited about weather
I hope the downstairs neighbors brought
their plants in but I didn’t dare wake them
After the poetry reading
it was amazing
that 22 year olds' crying
gave me permission
Though if they were my plants
I’d want to know
Especially since it’s 2:13 a.m.
and no chance of sleep
But this body heat and David
Just awoke
And said hi after taking
the headphones out of his
ears
Chain eating vitamins
Cough drops and sugar
I keep writing hoping someone
will
read it and love it
but mostly David
who will edit it
