All my heroes were two-dimensional
but some how larger than life.
Black and white were worlds apart
and Goodguys always won the fight.

Some say it was a simpler time,
more mythic and hopeful, than true ,
But they taught us to fight for the needy
without wondering who would sue.

Our sports stars disclaim heroism,
intent on selling themselves.
They want my kid to wear their shoes
their action figures cover the shelf.

Our politians have sold us out
With clay feet, hearts, and minds
In Hollywood, the anti-hero reigns,
but in my dusty, glorious dreams...
