Trainwreck Autopsy

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Being exposed to the 2nd video of the Toronto Mayor, one can only imagine what it’s like to live in such a nightmare collective of oneself.

Trainwreck Autopsy
by Odin Roark

So young
Yet how carefully is chosen the scalpel
Running hell bent through puberty
Pining to be that next age
That grown up
The panacea of having arrived

Until

Actually appearing at the threshold
Self-loathing’s candy apple head appears
Having lurked in the shadows
Since first insecurity rot frustration
On the first innocent
Stealing attention from…
Anyone?

Remembered burning of the ants?
The firecracker placed in the bird’s nest?
The feathers flying?
The ants curling?

And so…

Desperation reconsiders finding the answer
The scalpel
Perhaps a hatchet
Imaginably an axe
Maybe a rusty chainsaw
Certainly an incision
A slash and cut would relieve…

But

Adulthood lumbers through middle age
Arriving at true adulthood empty

Still

Past false starts heal
Scars of chicken-shit attempts for acknowledgment
Guised in the pitiable posture of victim
Stare back each night
As drowning trials nightmare the sleep
Giving forth the only reality acceptable

So rules the suffering mind set
Convinced that sense of self
Belongs to other’s pleasure
Other’s ownership
Other’s purchased entertainment
At victim’s expense

So goes the drifting
As the last puff
The last needle’s worth of escape
Provides the living autopsy

A few moments of honesty’s razor-sharp exposure
Relives one fucked up choice after another
Leading to the inevitable last
Where existence cares not for breath

A few moments of honesty’s razor-sharp exposure
Relives one fucked up choice after another

And The Mayor still doesn't get it - as so many self-centered politicians today don't.

Remember the D.C. mayor, Marion Barry? Caligula? Absolute power... as they say. M.True

Once again, almost too cerebral for my feeble brain to comprehend. But your explanation the beginning and the Toronto mayor? Public apology come to mind. I cannot comprehend what goes on in the minds of these people, only that I know that most politicians have an ax to grind, have something in their childhood that drives them to seek attention, are generally not very smart, but resourceful in getting others to do what they want or do. I think the problem comes with compromise. When in Rome, do as Romans do and they will vote for you. When you are in good company, throw away your morals and your moral preaching for the moment and the votes you'll get from your compadres in the moment.

What gets me about these kind of things is that even though they have disgraced themselves, disgraced the position they hold they never want to do the right thing and resign. Well, some do, the conservatives will resign, but not the liberals. Nope, never. Recent history on that, the penis showing videos of the man in New York.

Watched the video. Must say I've never seen a white man that age talking like a thug. I Call it gettin ghetto. Love the way you described the raw truth, open autopsy for all to see, which in turn has led him with no other choice but to look at himself over and over again. And that mental torment will no doubt be the excuse for another puff another drink just one more fix to escape his own mind.

Very insightful, philosophical diagnosis
tempered by the pleasure of reading it
in superb poetic discourse.
