So easy, this forgetfulness amidst our longing for tomorrow. (Image by Pinterest)

Interminable Time
by Odin Roark

When time looks around,
ancient, yet so new, is the lingering of the caveman's spear,
the insistence of his primal wail
echoing through the narrow memory of mind.

The we…

Who walk with false pride as modern man,
losing daily the value of remembrances,
blinded by present and future as something more than the past.

We who might never again appreciate yesterday's language
on the rocks,
walls,
parchment paper,
video screens and
holograms of today.

Why does progress sometimes choose to forget
that we are but today’s cavemen,
buried deep inside our own vanity.

So insistent, yet patient,
this interminable time.

time is what actually is out of our power of keeping everything under control. . . this is the only moment the human beings are so helpless; hence jealous. Once we think about it 'through the narrow memory of mind,' the caveman's primal wail comes out from our throats; and this state of mind we will perceive then scores of times. Cheers, alex

A wonderful year-end poem (timely). I am sure "cavemen" would take exception to your comment since they were more in tune with nature and if they had any "vanity" at all, as we have come to know the terms, it was probably well deserved. Happy New Year Odin. John
