With the water intensive weather hogging the information of the world, I’m reminded of a friend (way back) whose rain-like experiences hopefully endured, even though he might have had many experiences yet to come. (Image by pinterst)

Crazy Shit, This Rain
He once said he’d heard it said,
Old age in Mississippi,
Like middle of the night rain,
Lonely and cold,
Worthy only of prison yards
And soup lines.
That rain visits my granny and dog all the time.
Makes slow the calloused feet to move now,
Shufflin' across wooden planks,
Skinny dog by her side,
Shufflin' too,
Draggin' what energy's left,
Just to remind each other
Life ain't over ‘till it's over.
Trembling limbs hold fast.
The trek from bed to toilet to bed,
Middle of the night rain,
Keeps tappin’ at the door.
Crazy shit that rain.
Only saw it once
Hitchin' coast to coast,
Back in the day...
Overnight visit with granny it was.
Could of stayed longer,
But the rain...
I'm thinkin' all that now,
Peerin' from my penthouse window.
Central Park dimming.
Summer night with the Bard.
Rained out.
Eloquence I don't know,
So I listen from afar
Rain, near or far,
All the same
When waiting to make the sale.
1 kilo.
Another month's rent.
He’s there.
I’m here.
NY.
Mississippi.
Empty room's an empty room.
Dark room's a dark room.
Old rain.
Young rain.
Tappin'seems the same.
The door.
My conscience.
It’s all just a blur of a window’s protection in our downpours.
Crazy shit, this rain.
I thought before Harvey that we would flood if ever we got 30 inches. The final total over four days was 32 inches and we didn't flood. Now I am a believer that we can get 50 inches and still not flood, but folks downstream will get it in spades. ;-)
Love a rainy poem like this.

Love ya!
