Every life, whether as mountain climber, or monk before Buddha, finds moments to ponder the what if of death, and inexorably the continuance. (Image by pinterest)

Stay Safe
View from on high,
The mind’s scree sprinkled deserts below,
Once birch and ash amidst
Pines’ shadow.
Down into the bowl.
Rock barren lessor challenges,
Revered as yesterday’s snow clad mysteries.
Swirling fall leaves
Sprinkle shimmering sun’s dalliance,
A fractal rainbow suspended,
Terrace to terrace,
Stair-step tiered,
Evolution releasing mountain sides
Having yielded long ago
Its blueberries and acorn foraging.
Still further down…
Creeping slowly,
The brambles,
Nature’s love thorn creepers
Enfolding meadow where grasses thigh-high
Bend to wind’s call to the basin.
Tundra’s home…
A dog’s bark
Echoes up to
A Yosemite vertical silence
As breeze swaying his survival lullaby,
Makes mystic rising dust,
Lavender fantasies,
A fortress-lake’s misty fog.
Lights of dusk
From hamlets beyond
Signal early stars on high.
Stay safe this man.
Stay safe all of man’s inner potential.
Love ya!
Jane
As a child I climbed everything in sight. Still, I never free climbed like that. Perhaps because I had already lost strength in my fingers, long before I became paralyzed. It's hard for me to watch these guys/girls. One slip and they're dead.

But you have told me so much more. Your pen has taken me on a flight high above the mountain where the vision is clear as only the poet can see and hear and describe the bigger landscape. It is quite a vantage point that reveals man's inner potential. Another gem.
