Crazy Benny

That’s me…

A mess of doodle failure
memorialized on some tenement wall,
a subway car,
a billboard for all to see.

That’s me…

Matchstick meme,
a homeless soul of disintegrating worth.

That me…

Crazy Benny’s fire-red signature,
seeking but a little warmth
with his yet to find self-respect,
box-sleeping beneath the Manhattan Bridge underpass
as rain falls washing away today’s spray-paint effort.

That’s me…

Ol’ Crazy Benny,
an incomprehensible life
desperate for identity,
amidst my only real friends.

I feel like we have been filled to the brim with illegals, my friend. Doing it the right way is the best way in my opinion.

It's obvious that you have been down in the trenches. it is also a sad commentary on us as Americans, that we cannot find a way for all the Crazy Benny's, who deserve more than a free lunch and a cardboard box, as many of us go out of our way to ignore their plight.
