Chameleon Shell Game
At once the magician,
The power of anything out of the hat
Beckoning broadcast
Sanguine power to watch.
For just as fear freezes,
So too thaws the past.
Upon deaf ears
History replays
Ancient truths
No amount of hiding
Can contain.
Believing one’s ‘way’ is without rival,
Confident of the markers,
White,
Black,
Pulsating red.
How rose this kind,
This uncontained dark embodiment,
This way by madness
Designing mass restriction of the struggling,
Foreshadowing Hollywood murderous versions,
Political rants of hawkish lean,
That make for previewing despots yet to come.
We watch.
We cringe.
But we…
With words like hammer blows,
Gates protecting the hearts of people splinter,
Fracture,
Fall.
Centuries bury,
But also resurrect,
Endlessly revealing,
For some
Cyclic misfortune,
Dismay,
Hopelessness.
Seeing itself
As once tom-foolery dictatorship,
Now autocratic strangulation,
It remains forever
A chameleon shell game
of
Disrepute.
Thank you for sharing.
... I am ever hopeful though.
