Love's Requirement

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

“Your conflicts, all the difficult things, the problematic situations in your life are not chance or haphazard. They are actually yours. They are specifically yours, designed specifically for you by a part of you that loves you more than anything else. The part of you that loves you more than anything else has created roadblocks to lead you to yourself. You are not going in the right direction unless there is something pricking you in the side, telling you, “Look here! This way!” That part of you loves you so much that it doesn’t want you to lose the chance. It will go to extreme measures to wake you up, it will make you suffer greatly if you don’t listen. What else can it do? That is its purpose.” - A.H.Almass

Poem Artwork

Love’s Requirement

Is it not better to love the person,

Not its marginal surroundings,

Not the financial security,

Not the pride value,

Not the procreation ability?

Such remains…

The question: an obstacle.

The answer: often avoided.

The fulfillment: frequently unresolved.

Nature knows well…

For a tree,

A flower,

The sun,

The moon,

The wind,

The beasts,

Never conspire,

Humankind’s narcissism unknown.

If only we identified more with Nature’s integrity,
Accepting all is purposely not perfect,

Inviting love to live regardless of the surroundings’ impact.

Yes…

It is true .

One can’t love another

Until one loves him or herself.

Such is Love's Requirement.

A really interesting questioning piece, the
basis of which I agree with…
The lines regarding not being able to love others
until we love ourselves…so true…
But there lies the problem…how many of us
have reached this enviable state?
Nature should be our role model for sure…
“Humankind’s narcissism unknown”

Great piece of writing…!

I like what Ron says, crows loving themselves so well…. In your piece here I like the riddle of The question: The Answer: The fulfullment. Biggest magic for me is “Inviting love to live regardless of the surroundings’ impact.” Magnificent A. H. Almass quote, and of course that painting. ~~ djl

It's a hard lesson to learn, but easy to forget, once we doubt its wisdom.

Crows collect glittery things, don't they?

Crows will offer glittery things to ones they love, as well. Crows love themselves so well they are willing to call out to all of their distant friends their joy.

Once we love ourselves and do not need love from others, love will easily come to us from all quarters.

Ron
