Rain’s Magical Leftovers
Droplets as Nature’s microscope
Reveals intricacies unavailable without a downpour’s aftermath.
We seldom think of the rain’s generosity
Whether a downpour
Or drizzle,
Rainfall comes with many costume changes.
How fast it can travel down a window pane
How melodious its dance on puddle stages
Where its mysterious array of lenses mirror
Its audience of shadowed reflections.
And what of the magnifying droplets
Finding purchase atop stems of Nature reaching skyward.?
Might families of dew falling from clear sky
Know of the transformative power of sunset
Upon the mist-like makeup
Changing the many complexions of a forest wildness
Into a calmness of expression paused for Nature’s singularity
Processing an infinite density and microscopic volume
Into a oneness.
Seek out the magical leftovers of your next rainfall.
Allow creation’s generosity to seep into
The reservoirs of your heart and mind,
Where the gathering all kinds of droplets
Make rich the essence of consciousness.
But you go much further in this poem, asking us to pay attention tot he magic that rain plays on the soil wherever it lands. Magic it would seem, especially the case of the image that you select to illustrate your thoughts on the matter.
I recall the almost instant flowering of wildflowers and the Jack-in-the-Box popping up of mushrooms in the wet shady ground under trees.
