Memories

Wrote this years ago. It wasn't a happy day.

 

 

I thought I was safe, I thought they were gone;

Yet, painful memories, still carry on.

 

All that's around me, all that I find,

Is a key to unlock, memories in my mind.

 

Thoughts of a past, so full of pain

Are dancing around, inside of my brain.

 

Bringing me torment, tears to my eyes;

Memories, memories, so full of lies.

 

Hatred surrounds me, thoughts in my head;

Sadness and anger, engulfed in dread.

 

Tales from the past, so full of lies;

Memories, memories, tears to my eyes.

 

Try to escape, seal them away;

Suppressing all pain, by words that I say.

 

Fool those around me, hiding my soul;

But memories linger, pain is their goal.

 

Each day they strengthen, upon doors they knock;

Keys in abundance, no door left locked.

 

Bringing me comfort?  No, only pain;

Memories, memories, drive me insane.

 

Voices and echoes, pains of the past;

Kept in my mind, stored there to last.

 

Impatient feelings, want to break out;

Such vivid memories, containing doubt.

 

I hear them calling, my mind's eye does see;

Memories, memories, calling to me.

 

I cannot endure, much more of this;

Reliving memories, things that I miss.

 

Thoughts of the present, soon fade away;

Leaving just cares, of a long ago day.

 

Numbing sensations, filling my heart;

Memories, memories, will they depart?

 

Hating and loving, hurting and crying;

Darkness of memories, feels like I'm dying.

 

More doors to open, more keys to find;

Memories, memories, inside my mind.

 

Torture and torment, tears to my eyes;

Such pain filled memories, reliving lies.

 

Tales of a life, so full of lies;

Memories, memories, Tears to my eyes.

Hard to forget the hurts of the past but the happiness of the future clouds those hurtful memories that will not be relived but not forgotten.
