The air cools, leaves in transition, taking on hues of brown and green
Mother Sun withdraws and casts out a diminished light
Soon high and low pressures will swirl and mingle
Frigit winds, frosty rains settle on our domain
Darkness and gloom envelope us depleting our energies
We pull the covers tighter and curse the weather
Miraculously Mother Earth replenishes, and tender young saplings spring out the softened ground
Unfurling, reaching out to the blue sky above
Mother Sun hovers closer suckling them to her breast of warmth
Birds chirp and fly gracefully by, as we emerge from our winter dens
Rejoicing in the renewal of life again
Why we ask must the seasons change
How else could we understand the significance of things
For if it were always constant and unchanging, would we not take it for granted
And not notice the beauty, would not the true inspiration be lost to our eyes and being
So God in his great wisdom knowing change is good
Inspire trite being to accept
The beginning and end of things, as all things must pass through the cycle of life
So that time does matter and we live to enjoy the precious moments and strive to imprint
The evidence of our being in the hearts of loved ones
And departing this world we know that our deeds serve as maps of life so that those who come later don't stumble and fall, but move forward
Forging new roads as the secret of our being unfold
And thus make a difference in the scheme of things
