Who's Tears are They

A hungry child cries in the darkness,
another mute Poet, in silence weeps-
Rose petals fall on earth's barren soil,
but the pain in life, is for all to keep

Who's tears are they that find the cheek,
of the soul that never speaks?
The deafened Poet; The child of man;
the power from a storm, turned weak?

A frightened child, found alone and cold,
The Poet refuses to see-
Prickly thorns on the vines, they die;
beneath the sadness of the willow tree

An angry young man, in this world he finds,
the Poet in his own reflection-
Mountains crumble at his cracked dry feet,
for all he's ever known, is rejection

Who's tears are they that stained the page,
the Poet or the Man?
Or was it the child left alone to cry,
finding a way to release the rage?

Good question. I think they represent the tears of all, who have inward expression bursting at the seams, either way, it releases the built up pain inside. Healing!

Lisa, I think there is a little bit of the child in each of us. This is a really good, really smart poem. ~ Sara

Lisa,

You've penned the quintessential thought provoker--within every Poet lives a Man, but not every Man is a Poet. Well, maybe there IS a Poet within every Man, if it's not beaten out of him...you've written a poignant, eloquent poem, you just keep improving--thank you for sharing this one! One of your best (and I've saved much of your work, for I love the way you write).

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :( *tears* you've made me cry again--

I think the poet though often finding a strange sense of atonement from poring their hearts and souls out in their work also pay a heavy price at times baring the innermost fears to the display of the world. Greaaaaaat Write Lisa.

Very touching poem, Lisa. Amazing how one can reflect theirs and others, painful experiences with the written word. So many can gleen a page from their own lives, from someone else's writings. Bravo!

This is so excellent, Lisa. I believe that some of us are a channels for the thoughts and words of others. Perhaps we possess a portal through which those who have passed away or those who have incredible strength of mind are able to pour their thoughts and life stories into us so that they pour out of our pens. I really like this, which is true of all that I find at your den. You are such a talented writer.
Take care,
Sherry

Your work has taken on a definite swing toward the "inner Lisa" these days. Poems of searching and wondering and all is causing me to miss my old Lisa, the one that shouted truth for all to hear. I do not dislike this newer and more sensitive Lisa, just miss the other one.
