Without a Trace

Little boy; Young child of mine;
Your face, though distant and blurred-
It was long ago now that I last saw you;
except in distorted visions each and every night

Your tears have awakened me; Your voice,
has called to me-
But as I turn to see; You've once again
vanished without a trace-
I weep in silent slumber; I drown in the
sound of my own pain

Fault has no bearing; Yet I bear it alone;
Our shoes untied; Our lives the same-
I know you not; Knots and bows-
Blue jeans; Scraped knees, and grass stains

Time has escaped; Through the keyhole of light;
Tomorrow never comes; Today will soon be gone-
Once again, I've caught your tears-
And can only watch them dry within my palm

Little boy; Young child of mine;
You will one day hear my voice-
I will turn to see your face-
I will catch your tears; And pull you close-
before you can vanish without a trace

Lisa,

Your poem tugs at the heart. I could not imagine the anguish of such a loss.

I lost my daughter once, for about two hours which seemed like an eternity. I got my daughter back unharmed. She wasn't lost, just slightly misplaced. But during those two hours I died many times. Your poem: Withough a Trace has touched my heart.

such angst and surrender revealed through the longing of your heart's embrace for the child lost to the world ...

Through a veil of tears and blurred vision, I welcome you back. This is powerful writing and so very heart-breaking. I wish that no parent should ever have to live through the hell of losing their child, but it does happen and no matter how many times we hear of it, it does not become easier to accept. We pour all that we are into our children and when we lose them we lose a piece of ourselves and the world loses a ray of hope. Excellent writing, Lisa. I am glad to see that you made it through the hurricanes, now if we all can make it through the storms of life....
Take care,
Sherry

Lisa,

Am I glad to hear from you--I've been keeping you in prayer.

You haven't lost your edge--compassionate, broken hearted write...very well penned.

There are all sorts of hells, Lisa. Those on the battlefield with guts and glory and those inside our thoughts as we walk and talk and try to maintain "normalcy." This version of hell overshadows the other, more dynamic kind because to vanquish the enemy, one must lost part of yourself. I wish you the courage and stamina to withstand your torment.
