When I looked in the mirror; and nothingness looked back- The room started spinning- and all went black Nightmares; Dreams of horror; no reflection did I see- I could only ask- is this the end for me? There were demons and dogs; snarling out of spite- I tried clawing my way out- back into the night Each time I'd reach the top; I'd slip and fall down- And the voice of reason- would echo and drown A room full of idiots; the light came on- Suddenly I realized- I was alone Thus a shallow grave; I was now in- and the dirt I'd swallowed- was filth; slime n sin I pleaded for mercy; I pleaded for grace- I prayed for deliverance- and rest from the chase Tired and confused; I questioned; I raged- I screamed out His name- from this cold dark cage Then silence overtook me; no breath could I hear- I couldn't move- I was paralyzed with fear Then out of nowhere; a hand reached in- Wiped off my cheeks- and warmed me within I began to question; Where have you been? Why did you leave me? in this demon's den? I never left you; and you weren't lost- Don't you remember? My Son paid the cost- His blood was shed- for your sins and theirs- and I'll never forsake thee- For I am everywhere I looked in the mirror; and there did I see- The reflection of Him; looking back at me
This poem is not a usual flavor for you, Lisa, though I find it to be delicious and enlightening. We all must look into our mirror or deep into our eyes and see His reflection. Trying to live in a way that pleases Him is no easy feat, but the rewards are well worth the difficulty of the journey. Wonderful, wonderful poem, Lisa and one I will keep to read again and again whenever I feel human weakness creeping in from the edges of my world.
Take care,
Sherry

Yes we have been given a special gift that we have trouble understanding. Great write!
Outstanding images in this mirror of all we need to understand if we can see the true reflection and not one of our own making. Beautifully enlightened Lisa!
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
