Seasons (Jack Roberts’ Challenge)
The Vernal Fairy dances free
As she calls the leaves to dress the trees
Her magic stick touches down
To coax the grasses from the ground
Her fairy dust she spreads as mist
Commands the flowers to assist
In rebirth of the garden's blooms
To dress the earth in colored plumes
Hail the glory of Summer's Fairy
Who lights the days and makes them merry
She calls the breeze to gently blow
And the sun to shine its brightest glow
She beckons roses to cast their scent
And perfume the air so opulent
She ripes berries and sweetens peach
And casts her moonlight upon the beach
The Autumn Fairy we shall behold
As she turns green leaves to rusty gold
She casts a spell upon the trees
To ripe their fruits and drop their leaves
The grass she turns to tawny brown
She bares the pumpkins on the ground
Warm rain she calls to damp the earth
And bed the leaves for winter's birth
The Winter Fairy in gown of white
Calls short the day and long the night
She crisps the wind and chills the air
Brings icy glow to trees gone bare
Her blue-white snow beneath moonlight
Brings quiet calm to winter’s night
As her magic lulls the earth to sleep
Her seeds of promise, planted deep
Through change of season life moves on
From spawn of bud to blossom gone
Midst bright red leaves that paint the earth
To the white of snow, and promised birth
As seasons pass and years do go
We watch our crops and children grow
While we search to find our fated reason
We learn that life is but a season
