Frustrated Ambition
I often wish I had
been a scholar
but I didn't make
the grade
I would like to
say I'm intellectual,
but my best thoughts
seem to fade
I wanted to be beautiful
and keep my body thin
It never was to happen
except beneath the skin
I thought I would be wealthy
It slipped out of my hands
I might have been a celebrity
but alas, I had no fans
To be an entertainer
would be like taking wing
But the biggest problem
was that I could never sing
There must be music in me,
I really have no doubt
I feel and hear it in my soul,
but it just won't come out
I see beauty in my heart
and to my easel I rush
Quickly, I must transfer it
but it will not leave the brush
Sometimes I want to dance,
Oh how I feel the beat
But I'm just too tired and weary
now, to even lift my feet
I dream of flying with the wind
astride a spirited horse
I tried it many times ...
But I fell off, of course
Be always safe,
Karen
