On matters of the mundane realm...

In a gray predawn light
as the planet slumbers
in fathomless serene bliss

While the steady rythnmic sound
of a distant lapping shore
telegraphs its lulling trance
deep into a fair country vale

And intricately spun spider webs
dangle delicate dewdrops
as morning draws a bracing breath
rousing early birds from their dreams

Upon this reposed bucolic scene
a prancing peacock does appear
to cast its rarefied energy
into the gently bellowing mist

Commencing with its sprightly dance
on a meandering earthen lane
while its singularly haunting call
echoes freely 'bout the land

With regally hued plumage
in mesmerizing full fan display
it effortlessly lures cooing peahens
to cluster all 'round
haplessly, helplessly
doing
nature's eternal
bidding

Archived memories seep anew into consciousness
as I lay an awakened silent witness
to this most timeless of tumults
and succumb to savored recollections
of you
my ever wayward
beguiling
princely peacock.

Come to my window...lapping shore...delicate dewdrops...the wayward spirit smiling down upon the bigness of the bush...come to my window...

Carolyn, this an exceptionally well-crafted recollection of the glory days gone by, yet, still yearning for that magical moment in time whenever two became one. Standing tall and proud. Loved it, Poet. Thanks for sharing it.

Your poem is as beautiful as the peacock you describe. A wonderful read for me so early in my morning.
