I loved the line "History's teaching scorned." That is soo true, Carolyn. If we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes! Very current.
Men can argue and debate the whys and wherefores and causes, but all we're really interested in now is how on earth to remedy this complete mess-up, make reparation and charter a safe course for those who come after us, globally speaking. We are responsible for the world we create for our world's children. Leaders are influential and have all the power, but that power SHOULD only be the manifestation of the hearts of the people. This is a sharp, poignant write, Carolyn, but what I am particularly affected by is the powerful buzz-line "Tis the season for war over Reason": we war over what the reasonable thing is - OR which will win - War or Reason? ..I've noticed that lately poets all over the world are expressing what you just have..ty and the many others who have the courage to write about the state of the world at this particular time..perhaps if we all decided to change our own personal states the leaders would aslo. This is a time of crisis indeed..thankyou for your voice..your cry in the wilderness.
Your words are only a part of the awful truth. Younger person should cram in history of war before making up their minds. This one is haardly different from the others. You're right, greed is the culprit, but we didn't really start this war in Iraq. The militant Muslim world made the first hit on 2,750 people on September 11th. You write well, and I commend it highly. - Bill
