Dedicated to my courageous eighty-seven year old mother, a multiple stroke survivor, whose five-year struggle to keep walking finally gave way to complete wheelchair confinement...
May the collective Wisdom of our precious elderly come to be appreciated soon.

in other cultures, the elderly are venerated. here, they are abused and (often times) forgotten, lonely souls. powerful image, powerful write! well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, karla.
i lost my mom when she was 59 years old--i miss her, still. :(
Very fitting, Carolyn, the image of beauty in the fading rose combined with autumn leaves, and then the cane... A fine tribute to one who is venerated for life, as in living for life's sake.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
Love and Hug to Mom too okay!!
Love Tinka
