Note: Ancient Vedic sages reference the grand cycle of the Ages (Yugas)--lasting a collective 24,000 years, according to some. It is divided into two repeating 12,000 year segments (one, ascending; the other descending) with each portion distinguished by four major epochs. Ascribed to each epoch is a corresponding power of Illusion (Maya)which conceals humankind's Divine Nature from itself.
The lowest epoch in this grand cycle, Kali Yuga/Iron Age (of 1,200 years), is marked by base materialism and the presiding veil of Atomic Form. The second epoch, Dwapara Yuga/Bronze Age (current phase, lasts 2,400 years), is under the veil of Space, wherein an awareness of humans as Energy Form beyond flesh and bone eventually expands. The third epoch, Treta Yuga/Silver Age, lasts 3,600 years and is ruled by the veil of Time wherein a Mental Age of Yin (feminine)/Yang (masculine) balancing and sense of Oneness with the Cosmos evolves. The highest epoch, Satya Yuga/Golden Age of Truth, runs some 4,800 years and is characterized by Enlightment, Abundance, Simplicity of Life and Peace-- a veritable Garden of Eden!... Oh happy day!

I question why modern-day buildings have been built without the blueprint of the human body in mind as the Mayans who commissioned stone sculptures of themselves and especially the vastupurusha mandala that incoroporates the human body, planets, goddesses, and god which transmit their forms upward in ascent. When we lost this cosmic style of architecture to the wasted space of buildings of today, we lost simplicity, harmony, enlightenment, and peace.
The correlation between building and body is especially a key to chancel the soul and altar of the spirit. The geometry of sacred architecture encapsulated into the vastupurusha mandala is the perfect idea of truth and harmony. Even the medieval Gothic tradition used a square-grid system of architecture and Pythagoras's series of numbers were believed to underlie the structures of the universe as well as music and beauty in the arts. This haiku is rich in symbology, Carolyn! It has managed to put me in my "thinker's pose" with my elbows propped on my knees and my right hand and index finger resting on my temple, ascending skyward.
Thank you for providing that bit of history, Carolyn. Though I like your Haiku, I wouldn't have understood its significance, had I not read your footnote.
