my heart is heavy of late. my sweet mother (of nearly 90 years) has made that most dreaded of requests--for euthanasia... i pray that the new medicine will lift her depression & that i will see her gentle soul shine again...
it is time
for me to leave
the planet
i know you will understand
though vibrant colors remain
life's diminishing light
casts penetrating shadows
and it is time
for me to leave
the planet
i know you will understand
the doctor will take care of it
a quick and clean lay me down
if you please
alas, it is time
for me to leave
the planet
i trust you understand...

Carolyn, my thoughts and prayers are with you, this is such a very difficult time for you,and your mom I know the Savior will embrace you both with His love...Whatever your decision, rest in Him...
What a moving poem that says so much! God bless your mother that she has lived such a long and hopefully blessed life. I recall my dear mother who lay ill for so long and kept saying, "I want to go home." I knew where home was, it was the family cemetery near the old homeplace where she was born. This must be a trying time for you, but in looking back I wish I had been happy for my mother's sake instead of presenting the sad face I felt when I saw her suffering. Blessings, faith, and hope to you both.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
