Oklahoma City bombing and the death of innocents. Written in memory of the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing of April 20th, 1995.
You say hope further dims for humankind,
that few paths of salvation remain for us to find;
but why must the innocents be left behind?
Little Baylee Almon knows.
You say ingnorance has led us to this awful place,
having chosen greed and hatred to set our deadly pace;
but why must the innocents pay for our fall from grace?
Little Baylee Almon knows.
You say merciless contempt now rules our withered souls,
neither love nor compassion can dissuade us from this dreadful goal;
but why must the innocents slip forgotten into this menacing hole?
Little Baylee Almon knows.
You say we have as yet to embrace that higher plane,
where wounding with deadly intent reaps no ounce of gain;
but why must the innocents bear the brunt of our enduring pain?
Little Baylee Almon knows.
You say our reality is wholly self-made,
that peace and happiness are always here to serve as loyal aid;
but how can the innocents help show us The Way?
Little Baylee Almon knows...
