CONSUMPTION
Give me Tokyo, Cairo, Bangladore.
I starve! Too, all seas live and dead
A thousand small planets and their lurid stars.
For I am Consumption,
monster knit of numberless black holes.
Ocean, you bastard, chameleon!
Earth, sky, traitors all --
offering your least to my lust.
No matter. Fling me fattened children,
their innocence a raging engine's oil;
I am all steel phallus
romancing lightning in violated fields.
In a blink I appropriate whole galaxies.
Run everywhere
Batten all doors,
Summon the saviors of wide windows
Fools! What is terror but one more gyration
On the fat-axissed finger of God?
