The Color of Where
Where I'm from,
tomatoes bloom big as
silicone tits.
Cuke-vines ravage
the leafy tresses of
blushing radish while
beans ravish the trembling trellis;
swollen sleek zucchinis
plunder cabbagy crevices and
huge-wombed yellows despoil all doubts.
All around, the keening kudzu
snakes its devouring grope and
hydrangeas climax pink and blue
like frilly frocks for fledgling hopes.
You know, I think I'd return to Eden
but for the blood-mad mosquito
the bleak, peak-less vistas
the two-faced moribund sky
gray as April's alpine slush
the hominid scent of incest
nesting in the brush.
