Pen & Ink "Not Going Gentle" by Julianza Shavin

I did not become a concert pianist.
Grave is, of course, pron. grah-vay.
Guilty as charged. As always.

               The Rhythm of No

My father's bones roil in their dirt berm

molto grave.  I sense it.

After all those years of preening me

they mewl after music,

but my keys are tiny narrow fields

fallow and faithless over skipped Springs.

He whose ears were all adoration

martyrs me meatless with this straining

his own remains a meal for things

with strange untoward rhythms

ones we endeavored earnestly,

symphonically, not to hear.

does the "strange untoward rhythms" not suggest the probability of alien breach -- or is there mystery afoot here that eludes me? -- is this meant to imply a form of self generated internal discordance? --great peace to you this day and on the morrow too -- JMW

Really love that pen-n-ink, and your use of surprise-words, plunking those image-strings in the reader. Neat work :-)

Julie,
superior word choice, excellent phrasing and a motif that sustains the reader; fine writing.

At least, Julie, you write like a "concert" writer.
I love the use of mewl. -gene.
