"Childbreak" by Julianza Shavin I don't often write, or at least post, political poetry, with the exception of Bushwhack, that slam poem, and parts of Poet Laureate of Hell. But this one has been lying around for quite a while -- thought I'd go ahead and put it up. Sorry if I offend anyone, which undoubtedly I will. One always risks that, with political stuff, huh?

Changeling In the time it takes to blow my nose another child has died in Bush's wicked war. Dubya doesn't blow his nose. That whole apparatus was switched at birth for something far less messy. At that time it was decided to leave copasetic the hole in the infant heart - surgery too risky - but he did survive, moving on to a normal childhood, which he did not, and never will.
