Hands To One's Self

All morning I've been trying to write a sweetheart of a poem about playing scrabble with a child. Five other poems have arrived, but not that one. I am on some kind of roll, but mind you, it is a very big roll (would have to be) and not necessarily a tasty one.

        HANDS TO ONE'S SELF

I lucubrate; will go blind over this

masturbatory mucking with words.

They never stop coming, but I have yet to.

Either the syntax is wrong, the rhythm,

the modifiers, or philosophical conclusions.

Logos un-nterruptus:  it's too much to bear.

When will satisfaction scoop me up like

an innocent newborn knowing nothing

of piqued penetrations and pains?

Maybe once I pen something for you

or you, or you, your face contorting

eyes rolling back, feet flapping, trunk lurching

like the breaking of a crazed tempestuous day.

surely "piqued penetrations and pains" are self indulgent releases -- don't you think? -- loose upon me for my pleasures, the "trunk lurching" antics of seizure -- peace to you Julianza -- JMW

Julie, I think yours was the best review of this when you wrote
that you were on a roll. Your immense talent shines through. The
one suggestion I make is perhaps change "once" to "when" after
Maybe. but what do I know? -gene.

You make me feel inferior, Juli. I mean that as a compliment. Love and best wishes,
